Over the past 77 years the Denver Santa Claus Shop has shared the spirit of Christmas with more than 750,000 needy elementary school aged children in the Denver area. Hundreds of volunteers are involved in helping to collect and distribute new and used toys, games, books and dolls for the shop, which opens for four days each December. The Denver Santa Claus Shop distributes gift certificates to eligible parents, enabling them to select Christmas gifts for their children.
A non-profit, private charity, the Denver Santa Claus Shop was the first group in the country to pioneer a toy store for the needy at Christmas. Financial donations for the purchase of new toys are generously provided by individuals, private corporations and foundations during a once-a-year fund drive in November.
To ensure an efficient and fair distribution of toys, the Denver Santa Claus Shop works with Denver area social service and welfare agencies and charitable and religious organizations, including the Denver Department of Social Services, Denver Public Schools Social Services, Salvation Army, Head Start Groups and area housing projects.
Our mission is that every child should have a toy at Christmas!!!
